DEXTER DRIVING IN THREE BIG CANADIAN FINALS
Former Kentuckiana Lodge filly Bettor Joy has drawn barrier five in the $C330,000 Roses Are Red Final in Canada on Saturday (Sunday NZ time).
Dexter Dunn, her long-time driver when formerly in NZ, will again partner the now Jim King jun-trained mare, as top USA driver Tim Tetrick will rein favoured stablemate Shartin from the four gate.
Bettor Joy shares the third line of favouritism at 8-1, with Shartin the hot favourite at 4-5, ahead of Caviart Ally (7-2), the latter starting from the two barrier.
Bettors Wish, Dexter’s drive in the $US1 million Pepsi North America Cup Final, has drawn the three gate and also goes into the race on the third line of favouritism at 4-1.
The pre-post favourite is Captain Crunch, from the eight gate.
Captain Crunch, a Captaintreacherous colt trained by Nancy Johannson, was last year’s US 2YO colt of the Year.
He mixed his gait into the first turn in last week’s elimination, won by Bettors Wish in 1:49.3 (six 10ths) but the winner of eight from 13 had won in a lifetime best of 1:49.1 on a sloppy track at Pocono on May 19, then repeated there in 1:49.2 on May 26.
Workin One Mystery, a Captaintreacherous colt, to be driven by Tim Tetrick, is the 2-1 second elect from the four gate after winning last week’s elimination in 1:49.
Dexter again drives Treacherous Reign, the 2-1 early second favourite for the $C454,000 Fan Hanover Final for the three-year-old pacing fillies.
Treacherous Reign (by Captaintreacherous), starts from barrier three, drawing inside the 9-5 early favourite, Warrawee Ubeat (by Sweet Lou), to be driven by Yannick Gingras for the powerful Ron Burke stable.
Warrawee Ubeat was the fastest Fan Hanover elimination winner last week in 1:49.1, with Treacherous Reign going 1:50 for Dexter and the Tony Alagna stable.
