Former Kentuckiana Lodge mare Bettor Joy notched her second $US40,000 Blue Chip Matchmaker Heat victory at Yonkers, New York, on Saturday, March 30.
The Bettor’s Delight-Joyfulbelle mare was untroubled to lead from the six gate for co-owner Tim Tetrick, clearing out to win by three and a quarter lengths in a smart 1:52.6 (10ths) on the half-mile circuit.
Bettor Joy, trained in North America by Jim King jun, furthered a good run by NZ-breds in the Matchmaker series.
Shartin (Tintin In America-Bagdarin), a millionaire stablemate of Bettor Joy in the King stable and the series favourite, was also untroubled to lead and win her heat for driver Tetrick, scoring by three lengths in 1:52.4.
Seaswift Joy (Bettor’s Delight-Swift Belle) finished best to win her Matchmaker heat in 1:52.8.
Meanwile, former big-winning Kentuckiana Lodge pacer, Bit Of A Legend, was scratched out of his Levy Heat on Sunday with a quarter crack hoof problem.
