DEXTER LEADING MEADOWLANDS WINS & OVERALL USA MONEY-WINNING TOTAL
Despite taking the first week of the New Year off, champion ex-Kiwi reinsman Dexter Dunn already leads the Meadowlands wins premiership and is the leading money-winning USA driver three weeks into the next year.
The remarkable driver has quickly picked up his regular win sequence at the Big M (Meadowlands, New Jersey), winning second on a single programme, just one off the record on a single card.
He chimed in with five Meadowlands wins on Sunday (NZ time), including wins with NZ-breds Franco Totem (7g Changeover-Treaty Franco), in 1:51.2 (fifths) in a $37,500 pace, and Italian Delight (7g Bettor’s Delight-Chivasso), in 1:51.2 (fitths) in a $20,000 pace.
He’s had 141 drives for the month, for 35 wins, 22 seconds and 22 thirds, with his drives already having won $415,030.
Dexter has a small lead on driver earnings, ahead of Aaron Merriman, who has racked up a massive 75 wins for the month for $406,788.
Jason Barlett, a regular at Yonkers, is the only other over $400,000 for the month, with 31 wins.
Top USA driver Tim Tetrick hasn’t had quite as fast a start as Dexter, having reined 34 winners for $290,805.
