Two impressive young three-year-olds headline the Friday night racing team at Addington this week, with slick debut winner I’m A Gigolo back on track to maintain an unbeaten record and a smart one in Fabrizio to debut.
ADDINGTON, FRIDAY, AUGUST 16
RACE 2 I’M A GIGOLO (4, fr. 1980m mob) Matt Anderson – “The Americans think we’re a bit crazy lining up a three-year-old who wins a maiden against horses four-five-six-seven-or-eight-years-old the next time, laughed Cran. “He’s a big fella and that first up run took the wind out of his sails for a few days but he’s back brighter than ever again. If anything what he did first up was even a bit above expectations. We’ll now find if he can do the same in his second and third starts if we start looking towards those better races.”
RACE 9 FABRIZIO (6, fr. 1980m mob) Matt Anderson -“He’s quite a high-speed horse – out of Cullen mare related to Lizzie Maguire so he has the pedigree. He is one of the better maidens we’ve had for a while and capable of a win there.”
KUROW, SUNDAY, AUGUST 18
RACE 3 GLEN ELGIN STARA (3, fr. 2000m mob) Matt Anderson -“She has an enthusiastic owner in Hazel Opzeeland and she’s a nice enough maiden with no plans for the Oaks at this stage. We’ll use the good gate she’s got and not waste it.”
RACE 4 SHE’S A REBEL (9, fr. 2000m mob) Matt Anderson – “A good win first up, even went a bit better than I thought she would go. It was a very good effort, and into this race just a fillies and mares race with no major step up she should go well again – not a big jump forward for her.”
RACE 6 ARDEN ROANOKE (9, fr. 2000m mob) Matt Anderson -“Still a few dollars to get back from his sales price. We went in a bit flamboyant at Forbury and he did the job. He trims up fitter again for this and no disrespect to the others but I’d like to think he would handle that step up.”
