Cran and Nathan were so impressed with exceptional maiden winner I’m A Gigolo at Addington last week they won’t waste too much time getting him back out on the track.
The Sweet Lou three-year-old began the new season with a hiss and a roar, blitzing the maidens by almost 10-lengths in a slick 1:57.3 mile rate (1980m) after sweeping into the race from a back row draw.
“He impressed us and will race again August 16 at Addington, all going well,” said Cran.
“Plus, we have another promising Sweet Lou gelding called Fabrizio likely to kick off that night as well.”
I’m a Gigolo created a huge impression on debut, the son of Bettor’s Delight mare Bettor Romance, a five-race winner for trainer Barry Purdon now the dam of three live foals, I’m A Gigolo the second.
Fabrizio, who has trialled well, home in 57.8 to win his Rangiora workout on July 24, is a son of Christian Cullen mare Zagami, a race-placed full-sister to former star filly Lizzie Maguire (28 starts, 12 wins), and also a full-sister to gun export Matt Maguire.
Forbury Park winners Arden Roanoke (4g Art Major – Rocknroll Arden) and She’s A Rebel (3f Bettor’s Delight – Highview Chasue) will continue their preparations off smart wins further south last weekend.
Cran and Nathan are off to a flying start in the new term, winning three from six starters and leading the premiership after week one.
As Cran rightfully points out, 51 weeks is quite some time to hang on !
