KATY PERRY RACING AT MELTON ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Smart Kentuckiana Lodge filly Katy Perry has travelled well and settled perfectly in Melbourne for a crack at the $A50,505 Garrards Horse & Hound Tatlow Stakes at Tabcorp Park, Melton, on Saturday night.
“Dex is coming across to drive her so will miss Ashburton on Sunday,” said trainer Cran Dalgety.
“It was a bit of a late decision to come over for it but is exciting for all,” he said.
Cran and Katy Perry arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday night with the filly finding a spare box at Michael Doltoff’s stables.
Katy Perry, who has drawn three on the second row for the mobile 2240m 2YO fillies feature, is to take in an Australasian Breeders Crown qualifying heat the following weekend.
She pleased her trainer with her second, fresh-up, to Joanne’s A Delight in the Cambridge ABC Heat last week.
“She got to the girth of Joanne’s A Delight in the run home but with them running 55s speed over the last half, she couldn’t get past.”
Katy Perry, winner of the PGG Wrightson NZ Yearling Sales 2YO Fillies Final at Auckland on May 23, has taken improvement from last week’s run, her first official race since a mishap in her preliminary ruled her out of the Cambridge Harness Jewels 2YO Diamond on May 31.
