VETERAN PACER WINS AGAIN AT BUFFALO
The run of veteran ex-Kentuckiana Lodge pacers continued in North America on Sunday when Lightning Raider won at Buffalo Raceway, New York.
Lightning Raider, now 14 to Northern Hemisphere Time, won 10 of 53 NZ starts for the Cran Dalgety stable, including the 2010 Group Two Pelorus Trust 4YO Classic at Marlborough and the Group Three Kumeu Cup.
The Christian Cullen-Talent Hanover also won seven races in Australia, including the Group Three 4 & 5YO Championship at Albion Park.
He also ran third behind Im Themightyquinn and Dasher VC in the 2012 Group One $400,000 West Australia Cup, before being sold again to race in North America.
He’s now won a staggering 53 races lifetime for over $600,000 in stakes.
Lightning Raider, who has made Buffalo his home track for the last 12 months, overcame the six barrier in a $4400 pace on Sunday.
Fifth on the home turn, he outfinished his rivals to win by a length and a quarter in 1:56.4 (fifths).
Now well into his twilight racing year, Lightning Raider paced a 1:52.4 fifths) mile at the height of his North American career.
