PERTH INTER FINAL WORTH $A1 MILLION
Next year’s Perth Inter Dominion Pacing Series will offer good incentives with a $A1 million Grand Final to be run on Friday, March 2, 2012.
Swedish wagering company ATG is the major sponsor for the V75 Inter Dominion Pacing Championships.
The series will revert back to the traditional format of four nights of racing, including three rounds of qualifying, with nine starters in each heat, all off the front line.
The heats, each worth $A60,000 will be run on Friday February 17, Monday February 20, and Friday February 24.
Perth was the birthplace of the Inter Dominions, being first staged there in 1936.
At this stage, it is too far into the future to make any plans with current Kentuckiana Lodge star Smiling Shard, who will focus on four-year-old age group racing in the coming months.

Smiling Shard fought gallantly as best of the Kiwis in the Auckland Inter Final last week, chasing home Aussie flyers, Smoken Up, Themightyquinn and Blacks A Fake.
The diminuitive pacer with the big heart has the Woodlands Taylor Mile at Auckland on April 29, and NZ Messenger on May 6, as his immediate targets.
Kentuckiana Lodge trainer Cran Dalgety has first-hand experience of racing in West Australia, having campaigned Desperate Comment in the Perth series in 1996.
The Soky’s Atom gelding won a heat in the third round and was the tops points-scoring qualifier that year.
However, Desperate Comment wasn’t quite at his best in the final, finishing sixth to Young Mister Charles.
