STABLEMATES SOUND IN SATURDAY TRIAL
Buzinga, Big On Personality and Flyin Milly Mac, who missed racing at Addington due to a fog abandonment on Friday, May 24, were back at the raceway on Saturday morning for trial runs.
“It’s a shame there’s no money up today, but that’s how it goes. We’ll just go to the Jewels and Ashburton next week,” said trainer Cran Dalgety.
Buzinga, preparing for next Saturday’s $150,000 Commodore Hotel 3YO Harness Jewels Diamond, settled back and moved up parked with 1100m to run in the fast class trial.
She wasn’t extended by driver Nathan Purdon, finishing sixth, as front-runner Smokin By held Stun Gun and Henry Hubert over the mobile 1980m in a 1:57 rate.
“Even though she’s raced parked in some of her early races, she didn’t feel quite as good being parked out today. She’s probably better with a trail,” Nathan said.
The first three cleared out by five lengths over the pack in the run home with Jazzy Star finishing fourth, just ahead of Big On Personality and Buzinga.
Big On Personality, catch-driven by Colin De Filippi, was also back early then made the first move to be parked, then trailed Buzinga over the last lap.
The former Northern three-year-old, who missed out on qualifying for a Jewels start next Saturday, was solid to the line without being fully extended.
Flyin Milly Mac, also from the second row for catch-driver Ben Hope, settled back on the inner and followed the field round.
